National Road Safety Week
From 15 to 22 November, it is National Road Safety Week - a time to remind our students how to be safe on and around roads. It is so important to teach our students how to travel safety to and from school each day, but we need your help. Please encourage your child to practice safe behaviours around roads. Our School Crossing Supervisors have some great tips to share on road safety with your children:
- Always STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK before crossing a road
- Listen to the school crossing supervisor
- Only cross the street on the green ‘walk’ traffic sign or at a pedestrian crossing
- Explain traffic signs and signals with your child
- We also encourage you to get involved in committing to road safety by:
- Drive slow around schools and obey the 40km/h speed limit
- Look out for children and school crossing supervisors entering the road
- Make sure all of your passengers are wearing a seatbelt.
- The safety of our students is our highest priority and together we can make road safety top of mind.
For more information view the school travel options on the Transport and Main Roads website or visit the link below for more information on National Road Safety Week and the daily themes.

YMCA OSHC
Hello to all of our wonderful families!
We have some great news; enrolments for 2021 are now open! New and current families will need to complete a 2021 enrolment and request a 2021 booking. Families are welcome to contact the service at akb@ymcabrisbane.org to receive enrolment information and get answers to any questions. We are excited to meet new families and continue to build relationships with current families.
With the term almost half done we are heading quickly towards our December-January vacation care period. Our program is almost ready and we have some fantastic things planned, including visits from Geckoes Wildlife and Professor Jellybean. We will also be learning circus tricks, getting wet on a water slide and taking a trip to the movies (limited numbers). Bookings can be made now using the My Family Lounge app. Our service will also be operating vacation care for all pupil free days during that time period.
Finally, a quick reminder for all families to support their children to pack a sun safe hat and water bottle each day for OSHC. The days are certainly heating up and we want the children to be able to participate fully and comfortably in our programs.
Many thanks,
The YMCA Kurwongbah Team
