Show Holiday
A reminder that Friday 29th October is a Public Holiday for Moreton Bay Region. |
State Education Week 24-30 October
The theme for 2021 is 'Strong communities, successful students'. This theme highlights how whole school communities have come together during the COVID-19 pandemic to ensure that student success is always at the forefront. We look forward to celebrating our school community during week 4.
World Teacher’s Day and Staff Support Day
Due to the public holiday on Friday 29th October, our school will be celebrating World Teacher’s and Staff Support Day on Thursday 28th October. This day is a great opportunity for students and parents to show their appreciation for all the hard work our teachers and support staff do for their students. Kurwongbah staff are extremely dedicated and have a strong commitment to their role as educators. I encourage students and parents to make this day special for their child’s teacher. We will be acknowledging the wonderful work our teachers and support staff do at parade on Thursday 28th October.
2022 Student Leadership
On Monday 25th October, 33 Year 5 students presented their speeches to an audience of Year 5 students and staff. All nominees are to be congratulated on their preparation on delivery of their speeches.
The 2022 Student Leaders Council will be announced at parade on Thursday 28th October.
Children Leaving Kurwongbah
We are starting the process of forming classes for 2022. Parents whose child or children (other than Year 6 students) will be leaving Kurwongbah at the end of the year are asked to inform the school office please.
2022 Prep Enrolment
We are now taking names of Prep students for 2022. Children who were born between 1 July 2016 and 30 June 2017 are eligible to commence Prep in 2022. Parents are invited to contact the school office (3481 4333) if they are intending to enrol their child at Kurwongbah for Prep in 2022. Enrolment applications must be submitted for Principal approval prior to the enrolment interview. Enrolment interviews for Prep 2022 have now commenced. Please contact the school for further information.
Kurwongbah Fete – Sunday 19th June 2022
The next Kurwongbah SS Fete has been confirmed for Sunday 19th June 2022. Please save the date.
Fete Meeting – Tonight (27-Oct-21)
Planning for the 2022 Kurwongbah Fete starts tonight at 6:30pm in the Staffroom. We invite all interested parents and carers to get involved and assist in making our Fete a success.

2022 Senior Shirts
We would like to get an idea of the level of parent interest for an early bulk order of Year 6 T-Shirts for 2022. Placing an order late November means we will have shirts from the start of the 2022 school year. Forms are due back to class teachers by Thursday 28th October.
Voluntary Contribution
Voluntary Contribution is a vital part of the Kurwongbah P&C’s commitment and helps to fund reading books, maths & science consumables, art consumables, digital resources, sporting equipment and positive behaviour learning program resources.
You can make a financial contribution to the school by completing the attached form and forwarding with payment to the school office. The contribution equates to $1 per week for the 40 weeks of the school year. The school in partnership with the P&C are working towards implementing an easier payment method for the voluntary contribution in 2022. Any contribution is gratefully received.

YMCA OSHC
Hello families
Children have been eager to join in for Halloween crafts, design and sensory play this fortnight and we were happy to oblige! They have even constructed a Halloween themed window in the OSHC classroom that you are welcome to come check out next time you are in. The children at OSHC have also been supporting our sustainability project by researching and contributing to the compost bin and feeding the school chickens some of our leftover fruit and vegetable scraps on Fridays. They have made a big effort to ensure the chickens are being provided safe food and quantities.
Coming soon in early November, the 2022 enrolment links will be available for current and new families. The entire process is completed online and involves enrolling your child/ren and requesting bookings, either casual or permanent. Further information will be available in the coming weeks but please see staff if you have any questions.
We are also in the midst of planning the Christmas holiday program and this will be finalised within the next fortnight. Watch this space!
We would love to hear your feedback and suggestions, so feel free to email us or drop by the YMCA office for a chat.
